Emily Cardno - Principal
Red Star Theatre Arts was set up by Emily Cardno in 2010. Emily began her training as a child in Cambridge where she attended the King Slocombe School of Dance under the expert tuition of Donna Buchanan and Tina Pilgrim. At the age of 18 Emily went on to further her studies at the prestigious Bird College in London. Whilst at Birds, alongside her vocational training, Emily also gained a 2:1 BA Hons in Dance and Theatre Performance. After Dance School Emily spent one year at the Guildford School of Acting where she gained a diploma in Acting Studies from the University of Surrey. Graduating in 2003 and 2005 Emily began her two parallel careers of performing and teaching.
As a teacher she taught for a number of dance and theatre schools throughout London and the South before setting up her own school here in Putney. She is a DDI/DDE qualified teacher with the ISTD in Ballet, Tap and Modern Theatre Dance.
Performing credits include: Top Of The Pops-Fragma 'I need a Miracle' (no 1 hit 2000) and Watergate 'Heart of Asia', UK PA Tour for Fragma 'I need a miracle'. Princess Cruises, Costa Cruises, Four 'Spirit of the Elements'-Poet Productions, Le Grand Ballet De Music Hall-Patrice Marques, ITV's 'This Morning' and BBC ident TV commercial for BBC Radio 2.
Emily has fully retired from the performing side of her work and now puts all her time and energy into her teaching career and building Red Star Theatre Arts.
Alice Wells - School Manager & Dance Teacher
Alice started dancing at the age of 4, attending classes in ballet, tap, modern, drama and singing. She went on to take her ISTD exams in all three dance genres and gained her LAMDA gold award, Bronze arts award and her NCSSE Cheerleading coaching qualification, levels 1 & 2. Continuing her passion for the performing arts, Alice studied a BTEC diploma in Musical Theatre alongside her A-levels. She received part time training at the Urdang Academy, London and the Rosie-May Academy, Lincolnshire where she gained professional training from leading west end dancers and choreographers. Following this, Alice trained at the University of Roehampton, London, graduating in 2014 with a BA (Hons) in Dance Studies. Alice runs her own Petite Performer franchises in Barnes & Chelsea alongside her teaching and managing at Red Star Theatre Arts.
Nicole Feeley - Head of Acting & Director of Red Star’s Annual Musical
Nicole has been performing from a very young age, attending classes in singing and acting at her local theatre school in her home town, Bournemouth. In 2013 Nicole moved to London and went on to further her training at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance, where she gained a first class honours Degree in Musical Theatre and Performance. Whilst at the conservatoire she was taught by many industry professionals and developed her skills in ballet, jazz, singing, acting and acting through song. After graduating, Nicole began teaching at Red Star Theatre Arts, Putney, where she is Head of Acting and Director for their annual musical production. Nicole is extremely passionate about teaching, working with children aged 16 months - 18 years, at her Theatre School, Big Time Academy in Mill Hill where she also runs her own Petite Performers Franchise. Alongside her work as a teacher she continues to build her acting career in the professional industry.
Tara Piontecki - ISTD DDE Dance Teacher
Tara received full time dance training at The Judith Hockaday College, Swindon where she achieved her DDI & DDE Teaching qualifications in Modern Theatre Dance and a DDI in both Tap and Ballet. Tara went on to gain her DDE Tap Dance qualification at 344 Dance Station, Bristol. To date Tara has 10 years teaching experience, delivering classes in Ballet, Tap, Modern, Jazz, contemporary and commercial. She has entered students in for their ISTD Ballet, Tap and Modern exams achieving a very high standard of results. Tara runs her own jazz/commercial classes for students and adults in Wales and London and currently teaches at the Brit School, Croydon and The Arts Educational School, Chiswick.
At Red Star Tara teaches ISTD Tap & Ballet and Petite Performers Ballet & Hip Hop. She also teaches Pointe and Progressive Ballet Technique on Saturday’s as well as private dance lessons.
Claudia Bagley - Petite Performers Teacher
Claudia began her ballet training at the age of 2 in Suffolk, completing ISTD Ballet, Modern and Tap Examinations to Advanced 2 Level. She gained both Junior and Senior Ballet Scholarships with the British Ballet Organization and performed as a young dancer at The Royal Opera House and with the European Ballet Company. She furthered her training at London Studio Centre, graduating with a BA Hons Degree in Theatre Dance. In her third year, she toured the UK with The Jazz Dance Company.
Claudia has worked internationally as a professional dancer both on cruise ships and in the commercial sector for corporate events and fashion shows. Her career has enabled her to travel extensively, spending significant time in Europe, South-East Asia and South America, as well as a world voyage with P&O cruises. She has been Production Manager and Dance Captain for the Italian company, MSC Cruises, for many years, managing a high-calibre of international artists and responsible for the daily delivery of world-class production shows. Most recently, Claudia became their Associate Choreographer, casting and rehearsing performers for one of the world’s largest cruise ships.
Claudia has taught dance classes and workshops throughout her career in a range of disciplines, including Ballet, Jazz and Musical Theatre. In 2018, she gained a Level 6 Extended Diploma in Dance Teaching with BBO Dance. She continues to teach in dance schools and performing arts colleges throughout London alongside performance work and her creative role in show production. Career highlights have included performing the Can Can at the MSC Meraviglia Christening Ceremony, hosted by Sofia Loren, in Saint Nazaire, France (2017) and teaching at the world-famous Pineapple Dance Studios (2018).
Tom Ramsey - Wednesday Singing Teacher
Tom has performed and directed from an early age. He is a three-time alumni of the National Youth Music Theatre, and is featured on two original cast recordings, including as a featured soloist in the U.K. Theatre Award winning musical “Brass”.
In 2017 he graduated from Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance with a First Class BA(Hons) in Musical Theatre. Since graduating he has appeared at The Other Palace, The Battersea Barge and in the original cast of Sherlock - The Musical. As a director his credits include original productions of Superhero: The Musical (later produced by NYMT) and Overcoming Statistics, a verbatim musical.
He is a founding member and director of theatre company Aktualise, which produces original works in South East London. Tom is very excited to be working with all the kids at Red Star - passing on his passion and enthusiasm for singing and theatre to a new generation.
Sarah Simpson - ISTD DDE Dance Teacher
After studying for a Masters in Engineering at Robert Gordon University, Aberdeen and working in the Oil Industry for a few years Sarah decided to pursue her passion for dance. Training at Dance College Whitstable, Kent, she completed her ISTD Diploma in Dance Education (DDE) in Imperial Classical Ballet, Tap and Modern Theatre. She has also achieved the following vocational exams; ISTD Advanced 2 Tap, Advanced 1 Modern Theatre and Advanced 1 Imperial Classical Ballet, and continues to work towards her Advanced 2 in Ballet and Modern. Whilst studying she taught at a local performing arts school in Kent. On completion of her course Sarah moved back to Aberdeen and taught at various dance schools throughout Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire. She also completed a teaching course with the Royal Academy of Dance in turn gaining Registered Teacher Status. With a relocation to London in 2018 she now teaches ISTD Ballet, Tap and Modern and RAD Ballet at various schools in the city.
