ISTD Ballet - (Primary to Intermediate), Yr1-Yr12

We aim for children to take their Primary Ballet examination in year 2 and from then on steadily progress through the ISTD grades and majors. Examinations are not compulsory and those children wanting to attend ballet for fun are as welcome as those wishing to take it more seriously. Those children who do wish to take examinations must attend a minimum of two ballet classes a week from grade 2 and above.

ISTD Modern Theatre Jazz - (Primary to Intermediate), Yr1-Yr12

Modern dancing is a fun and energetic way to dance that works on core strength and flexibility and leads to a real understanding of the body and how it moves. It's great for increasing confidence and learning to express yourself. We aim for children to take their Primary Modern examination in year 1 and from then on steadily progress through the ISTD grades and majors. Examinations are not compulsory and those children wanting to attend Modern for fun are as welcome as those wishing to take it more seriously.

ISTD Bronze & Silver Jazz and Non-Syllabus Street Jazz - Yr3-Yr12

Jazz is a funky, upbeat way of dancing that leans much more towards the commercial style, seen today. In the Inters and Seniors Jazz classes we work towards the less formal ISTD Jazz Awards as well as free technique classes and routines in all styles from Jazz, to Hip Hop, To Lyrical and Contemprary. These classes are great for those that dance a lot as well as those who are older but newer to dance, wanting to learn some moves and perform in shows.

Boys Only Hip Hop - Reception-Yr12

Boys want to dance just as much as the girls, just maybe not at the same time! Our boys only Hip Hop classes are taught by young male teachers, choreographing and performing professionally in the industry. The boys learn all styles from Street, to Commercial, to Locking, Popping and Breakdancing. The boys perform annually at the Putney Christmas Lights event as well as the Red Star Dance Shows.

Contemporary Dance - Yr3-Yr12

The freedom of movement that contemporary allows affords dancers with less training or technique to still enjoy dance without the need for perfect turnout or nice feet. That isn’t to say that contemporary dance is in any way inferior to ballet. Contemporary dance can be challenging both physically and emotionally and it pushes the boundaries of dance and forces audiences to think and take chances.

Progressive Ballet Technique - Set Syllabus

Progressing Ballet Technique is an innovative program developed by Marie Walton-Mahon for students to understand the depth of training muscle memory in achieving their personal best in classical ballet. This class is based on Exercise Balls, the Ballet Barre and Yoga Mats. It is extremely beneficial for those wanting additional Ballet training or Core/Strength training and massively benefits other dance styles.
